Review these 6 Holistic Habits

Take a Break

A reason people avoid creating routines is because they think they don’t have time to practice them. It’s time to eradicate this belief because many routines would not take more than five minutes.

Meditation

Meditation has proven valuable as a stress reliever. It calms the body as it calms the mind. People can practice meditation whenever they want, regardless of the location. You can meditate at home or during a lunch break at work.

No more than two to three minutes of deep breathing is necessary, especially if you are at work. Taking a few minutes of your break to do quick meditation will have a significant impact on your overall well-being. Meditation improves the immune system, concentration, mood, and the quality of sleep.

If you think you can’t do it independently, try guided meditation. You can find them on YouTube by typing 5-minute guided meditation or using a meditation app. You can meditate first thing in the morning or before bedtime. It’s up to you to explore when you most need it.

Journaling

People approach things differently. Some don’t feel comfortable sharing everything with others, regardless of how close they are to a person. In that case, journaling is an excellent alternative. Even in the reverse situation, when you do talk to others, you can still put your thoughts on paper, whether it’s about something that makes you happy, excited, or sad and concerned.

Journaling is an easy to practice routine and it only takes a couple of minutes. You can journal using a pen and paper or in an app on your smartphone.

Practicing Gratitude

Practicing gratitude goes hand in hand with journaling; it can be a 2 in 1 activity. —see, holistic habits are effective if planned properly— but, back to the routine.

Practicing gratitude helps you remind yourself about your blessings—everyone and everything that makes your life better. You can practice it daily by listing three beautiful or impactful things that happened to you that day.

As said, journaling can also be a type or a part of a gratitude practice.

Regular Physical Activity

Building an exercise routine is vital, especially if you spend hours in a sedentary position. A combination of cardio, strength, and flexibility exercises is a winning combination. You can do it at home, or at a gym.

Physical activity helps you keep your cardiovascular system healthy and improve and maintain a sound immune system. However, don’t limit yourself to exercise programs. You can practice any sports activity you find fun.

From yoga, pilates, and dancing to outdoor activities like slow jogging or riding bikes, there are so many things you can do that don’t have to be too demanding (you determine the intensity) and can take up to an hour a couple of times a week.

Spending Time in/with Nature

If you want to treat yourself to delicious soul food, spend time in nature. If possible, go into the woods, walk barefoot on grass, touch the trees, smell the air, and listen to the birds singing. Can you imagine we have forgotten how simple yet beautiful these things are? How powerful and healing they can be.

That’s why we say spend time WITH nature, It’s one of the best friends we can have.

Alternatives: Go to the nearby park, garden, or balcony, observe the surroundings, and soak up the beauty.

What do you say about planting a houseplant? It is another rewarding habit that will enrich your life and house decor while connecting you to nature.

Social media is packed with videos of people sharing their daily routines. Such content has two effects. They can motivate or discourage people.

The routines you practice are for you to feel better. It’s not a competition. You’d be more dedicated this week to routines than you were the week before, or vice versa. You can correct the list of holistic habits weekly or monthly. You can have one, two, or even eight habits; as long as you see their positive effect, nothing else matters.
